Post by Mohamed_2070 »

hello
i have an encrypted HDD attached to the PC via an USB adapter when I attach the HDD directly to motherboard via SATA, the partitions structure of the HDD has been changed and i cant mount it, when returned to the adapter, i can mount it normally as usual.
can i solve this problem without decrypt the HDD

Hello
after some research on the internet, I understood the cause of the problem: with a large hard drive size (3TB for my HDD) the adapter uses the AF (Advanced Format) 512/4096 (logical/physical sectors size)
the HDD is initialized with a sector size of 4096, but in each sector there are 8 logical sectors of 512 (the adapter does the conversion)
When the HDD is attached directly to motherboard via SATA, the system reads data with sector size 4096 (logical=physical) so it does not understand the data structure.

-> decrypt the hdd does not solve the problem
 I have to save my data in another hdd and reformat my 3TB hdd when it is attached to the pc to use it as internal hdd
