External HDD, ~3TB, Western Digital, MyBook. DC started, password inserted, HDD ist running, LED flickering, as normal. File browsers in Win 7, 8, 10 display the HDD without the blue bar, indicating size. Clicking icon= "F:\ cannot be accessed. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable".
"TestDisk" recommended by the internet. Before messing up everything eventually-what would you recommend?

Could you make it work? Normally, there shouldn't be an issue with access to external drives, that are correctly handled by the system.
