Sandboxie+ version 1.1.3
Firefox 103.0
Windows Enterprise 10 version 20H2
When I try to start Firefox as default browser, get message:
Could not invoke program:
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
System Error Code:
The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail. (14001)
The event viewer log has the following message:
Activation context generation failed for "C:\Sandbox\needleman\DefaultBox\drive\C\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe". Dependent Assembly mozglue,language="*",type="win32",version="1.0.0.0" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.
The location of Firefox in the event viewer is correct, and the file referenced mozglue.dll is present in the files. I am having no problems like this on another computer with Sandboxie+ 1.1.3, Firefox 103.0, Windows Professional 10.
When I look on the web for advice on the problem, there are four suggestions:
--Reinstall application. Done
--Reinstall called application. Done
--Install all Windows C++ libraries. Done
--Check registry. The registry entry referenced is not in my registry.
Any suggestions deeply appreciated.
side by side error when trying to start Firefox
Re: side by side error when trying to start Firefox
Update:
Problem resolved.
After Firefox updated to 103.0.1 and a Win 10 update was installed, no longer getting the side-by-side message. Not sure whether the problem was Firefox or an operating system glitch.
