SbieDrv.sys corrupted?

Post by Krueger »

I have a clean Windows 7 machine that I have attempted to install Sandboxie on.
- There is no antivirus software
- Windows Defender is completely off
- Windows Firewall is completely off
- UAC is off

After downloading the installation files I right-click and "un-block".
I right-click run-as-administrator to install sandboxie. It says it completes successfully.

Upon attempting to run the Sandboxie Service is unable to start due to the SbieDrv.sys not running.

Exact error is as follows:
Sandboxie Start (Window name)
Error: SBIE2331 Service start failed: (null)
--Click OK (opens new window)
Sandboxie Start (Window name)
Error: The Sandboxie driver (SbieDrv) is not available to sandbox programs. Make sure both the driver and Sandboxie service (SbieSvc) have started successfully.

Event viewer Security Log:
Code integrity determined that the image hash of a file is not valid. The file could be corrupt due to unauthorized modification or the invalid hash could indicate a potential disk device error.

File Name: \Device\HarddiskVolume3\Program Files\Sandboxie\SbieDrv.sys

Attempting to start the SbieDrv via cmd-prompt run as administrator
Cmd> net start SbieDrv
Error:
System error 577 has occurred.

Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source.

Anyone have a solution to this?

This should be resolved by now. Nowadays, except for some pre-releases the installer is properly signed and the driver is always signed.
