Sanboxie - Can it see/stop Chrome DevTools API

Post by cmurrayis »

Hi all,

Testing Sandboxie and trying to isolate communications between a small app which appears to be launching chrome instances in the background, doing something and then closing.

When I launch the app I can see the chrome headless session show up however I cannot see a way to see how the app is talking to chrome which I suspect is via the Chrome DevTools (CDP) API.

Any Guidance would be appreciated. At this stage I only have the app in Sandboxie as I believe chrome does not need to be part of it?

You can use the built-in trace log to see what calls are made.

In Sandboxie-Plus (SandMan.exe) you can find that in the menu bar under View > Trace Logging

You can also use a tool like Sysinteral's process monitor (Procmon.exe) to monitor that application.

When the application launches chrome by opening it, you can block the file path:

Code: Select all

ClosedFilePath=here-the-path-to-the-chrome-binary
Documentation of that feature. Overview of resource access types.
