I'm curious if sandboxie has an option to create a VM like environment, like a fake drive that basically works like a regular drive but has nothing of "importance" on it yet it works just fine?
From my understanding if something runs inside the sandbox it has full access to everything on the drive(s)? Maybe this isn't how sandboxie works or maybe there is a way to make it run more "safe" even with unknown software(that requires internet access)?

The way you unserstand it ht the old behavioure of sandboxie.
In sandboxie plus you can configure boxes to block access to anything but c:\windows and c:\program files by default
so all your data are protected
