INTRO / BACKGROUND

I'm in the process of installing the latest version of Sandboxie-Plus onto my devpc, and I came across the following.

The Sandboxie "Setup Wizard" runs as part of the post-installation onboarding and configuration.

The fourth (4) page of the setup wizard is titled "Configure Sandboxie-Plus shell integration", and the following options are given:

SNAP000366.png
  • Start UI with Windows
  • Add 'Run Sandboxed' to the explorer context menu
  • Add desktop shortcut for starting Web browser under Sandboxie
  • Only applications with admin rights can change configuration
Notice how the last option is phrased "Only applications with admin rights can change configuration".

Is that a typo? Should it be "Only users with admin rights...."?

Also, what exactly does that option even refer to?! What configuration, whose configuration, where, how, when, why?

I hope you guys can could shed some light on this... I've tried searching the forum for related topics, but couldn't find any.

Also, I'm not posting this as a bug-report, since I'm not sure if it's even a typo or not.

Cheers, thanks for any info! =)

UPDATE

The option I talked about above is propably related to one of the following settings (found in the documentation pages):
Most likely the first one in the list... and if so, then it feels like the Setup Wizard has a typo in it's description. I'm not 100% certain, it looks like it could be seen as meaning either way; users or applications, or perhaps by extension -- both. =)

Opinions, comments, feedback?

WHAT DOES THE OPTION DO? (SELF-SOLVED)

Uh huh, you have to be curious enough to toggle the option (even if you don't intend to use it), to get the following informational "warning":

OK, well, that was certainly a bit more helpful, since the way the option was written simply didn't give me a whole lot of information about what the option does.

But, I'm still not 100% certain if this is the same option as the "EditAdminOnly" option mentioned in the docs. I believe it is, but I'm not sure.

Is that a typo?

It should be intentional as it refers to the software that might make changes (e.g. SandMan.exe or SbieCtrl.exe).

The placement of the option to configure it to be restrictive is odd, as it is not related to the shell integration.

I'm still not 100% certain if this is the same option as the "EditAdminOnly"

The wizard should set this option, when the box is checked, so it appears in the Sandboxie.ini. (By default it is off and not shown.)

OK, Thanks for confirming my findings.

My setup was paused for a moment while doing that background research, but now I'm "all good". (At least I hope so... we'll see how the install finishes...)

Sure.

Please note that SbieShellExt.dll is missing in 1.15.9, which will be fixed in 1.15.10. SbieShellExt.dll is used for the shell integration, so don't worry if you can't start applications sandboxed from the explorer by right-clicking on it.
