Problem with installing Google Chrome, Discord, Putty

I'm installing the set of apps to my Sandboxie sandboxies. Some apps install and run fine (Brave, Draw.io, Thunderbird, etc.), and some apps installers are crashing (Google Chrome, Discord, Putty).

How Chrome installer crashes.

I have tried various sandbox presets and settings, but nothing worked. The installers just crush without errors.

Sandboxie version: 1.14.8
License: Home
System: Windows 11 Enterprise Evaluation 23H2 22631.4169

Did this happen with 1.14.7? I am just asking, as there have been regressions with 1.14.8, like the box import function and file-recovery function. Maybe it's not limited to that.

I have installed Sandboxie just yesterday. 1.14.8 is the only version I have used.

Thank you for the information. Right now, I can't give you advice on what to try.

David might ask you for crash dumps, which you can share privately.

For Chrome:

1. Extract "ChromeStandaloneSetup64.exe" using an archive manager. (e.g. 7-Zip)
2. Extract "ChromeStandaloneSetup64\updater.7z"
3. Run "ChromeStandaloneSetup64\updater\bin\Offline\{<GUID>}\{<GUID>}\<VERSION>_chrome_installer.exe" sandboxed.

Discord installed fine.

You don't need to install Putty using Putty.MSI. You can download putty.zip, extract it to a folder and use it.

Video for Chrome:
Wow, I didn't know that .exe files are extractable 🤯

It worked, Chrome installed successfully!

The installation problem with Discord still exists. DiscordSetup.exe content is more tricky.

Temporarily switch the box to "Sandbox with Data Protection" type and then try installing Discord.
No, it doesn't work for me.

Some module error.

If Discord is installed on the host machine, rename the Discord folder there before attempting to install it in the sandbox.

Before installing Discord run this from Unsandboxed CMD:
Code:
ren "%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Discord" "Discord_bak"

After installing Discord run this Unsandboxed from CMD:
Code:
ren "%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Discord_bak" "Discord"
