Printing to a PDF from Inside Sanboxie

How do I allow Sandboxie to print a web page to Adobe Acrobat and save as a PDF? Or print via "Microsoft print to PDF"? Win11, PC. sandboxie-plus v1.17.2.

Thanks.

I can print a webpage successfully from within Chrome. "Save to PDF" .

You need to provide more info. Show your ini file .

Maybe you have enabled "Block access to the printer spooler" (Sandbox Options > General Options > [Restrictions])

This sets ClosePrintSpooler=y in the INI section for that sandbox. By default, it should not be set.

Save to PDF is different than using Print to Adobe. I've just moved to a new PC and I've had trouble configuring Sandboxie. I have not blocked access to the printer spool. Oh wait. Now it works. I did work with the distiller which may have been the issue.

If you’ll indulge me, I'm downloading files to various folders on my PC but they aren’t appearing in the recovery box. What did I do wrong? (I can see them in the Sandboxie file location.) I've messed something up...

I haven't tried such a setup like yours. I'm willing to try it, though you need to share your setup in a detailed manner.

I'm downloading files to various folders on my PC but they aren’t appearing in the recovery box.

Are those folders included in the folders to check for files to recover? Sandbox Options > File Options > [File Recovery]

You can also tick the box "Show all files" in the recovery window, but that is usually quite messy, if the application(s) itself/themselves creates a lot of files.

I added the drives, so now yes, they are all listed and I can see the recoverable files there. I see "Show Templates" but no option for "Show all files."
"Enable immediate Recovery prompt to be able to recover files as soon as they are created..." This is option is also checked. What does this cause SB to do?

"Show all files."

This is a check-box that is shown in the recovery window itself.

"Enable immediate Recovery prompt to be able to recover files as soon as they are created..." This is option is also checked. What does this cause SB to do?

It prompts the user to recover files as soon as they are created (e.g. without the user having to start the recovery process manually). Downloading a file to a folder from which to recover, will show an immediate recovery prompt. The same should be true for saving files.

Files show up in my recovery window, for each of the locations I have added, or that are included by default.

That was not checked, so maybe that's what I'm missing. I do see system files there too now this it's checked, I guess for programs running inside the box too which is annoying, but if it prompts me to recover, that will be fine.

Now when I try to Microsoft print to PDF, I get an error message, “Chrome.exe SBIE 1319 blocked spool print to file [239772] chome.exe” and “Do you want to allow the print spooler to write outside of Sandbox for chrome. Exe?”

How do I set SB to allow this printing?

The popup message should contain buttons to select "Yes" or "No". When logged in the lower pane, there won't be a button.

You can add AllowSpoolerPrintToFile=y in the INI section for the sandbox, this is supposed to be enabled in. This can be set via the user interface via Sandbox Options > General Options > [Restrictions] > "Allow the print spooler to print to files..."
