When I tried to mount my encrypted external hard drive, I accidentally disconnected the hard drive from the computer in the middle of encryption. At first, it resulted in the entire application freezing and it became unresponsive. After that, I tried to unplug my hard drive and reconnect to my computer again but it became unresponsive again, so I attempted to click on the menu to look for other option, but it also led to another unresponsive state.

After tried for few times, I was able to click the buttons on the menu and I clicked "Unmount" the encrypted hard drive, which resulted in the entire hard drive became undetectable on my computer, and also in Diskcryptor.

My Diskcryptor is version 1.1.846.118.

Does that mean my external hard drive and its data were all damaged? What can I do to fix it?

I am not familiar with DiskCryptor, but it should be able to restore partition information, once the drive is detected again. I am not sure, if that function is already included in your version, since it appears to be released before David maintained the software.

Maybe the does not show up in the file explorer, but is still detected by the system. Does it show up in the "Device Manager" of Windows (under Disk drives) or "Disk Management" of Windows?

Thank you for your reply!

My external hard drive can be seen in "Device Manager" and "Disk Management", but not in "File Explorer" and "Diskcryptor".

But in "Disk Management", a window popped up and asking me that I must initialize my disk (Disk 1, my external hard drive) when I connect it to my computer.

What should I do next?

@DavidXanatos, please advise what should be done to resolve the problem.

I am not sure what would happen, but I guess that initializing the disk, will reset it, meaning that all data on it would be gone. It will appear blank. (I also don't know if Diskcryptor handles GPT, while it can surely handle MBR). Edit: David appears to have added GPT support, which should not be present in your version of Diskcryptor.
