How do I allow access to my optical drive?

I am trying AShampoo Burning Studio 2025 in a sandbox because I want to make sure that it doesn't install any unwanted software along with it. It needs access to my optical drive but I have been unable to give it access despite trying. I have added my bluray drive letter to the Resource Access Files and added the drive letter and the application name is selected. The access is set to Open but this is not allowing the program to find my optical drive, it just cannot see it.:(

How do I get this working so that it sees my optical drive and so that it could burn to a disk?

By default, the sandboxed application should see whatever the user is able to see. Well, it could not write to the real location, but read from it. Do you use a box with data protection?

When the software is installed in the sandbox (not the actual system), and you want to open a resource, you have to use "OpenPipeXXX" (where XXX is either Path, Key or IPC). In the user interface, this is labeled as "Open for All".

I have set up the sandbox so that my optical drive (BluRay writer) drive letter is in the Resources->Files section Path section and the Ashampoo program is specified as the program and the access is set to Open for all. When the program is run, it shows the following windows and no drive is accessible or can be seen.

It's still not usable. I don't use a box with data protection, it's just a Standard Isolation Sandbox.

Oh, "controlled folder access" is a feature of Windows (starting with Windows 10), but I am not sure if Sandboxie itself is triggering this. or if Windows would try to deny access anyway. Applications under Sandboxie's supervision have the lowest integrity level and Windows doesn't allow them to do much, which could be the reason you get the error.

I wonder if you just can allow Ashampoo to the list of allowed applications, like described in this tutorial of tenforums.com
