Re: Lock the DC bootloader

The problem is NOT caused by DC itself, but Windows (or other 3rd party software) overwriting the bootloader behind your back. If the DC bootloader could somehow restore itself (automatically) every time something overwrites it, maybe this would solve the problem forever (rather than making it read-...

Lock the DC bootloader

Since Windows 10/11 can overwrite the bootloader without warning, is there any way to protect the DC bootloader to prevent Windows becoming unbootable? Recovering from this would not be easy for an inexperienced user! I know Windows 10/11 can install updates - and "upgrades" that overwrite the bootl...

Windows 10 update broke DC bootloader

Recently installed a Windows update, then the computer did not boot again. Windows tried to attempt repairs, but no luck! Had to re-install Windows.

2 major bugs and 1 minor

I've encrypted my NVMe SSD - on real hardware (not a VM). So far good performance. 8-) But there are some bugs I noticed: Secure boot must be turned OFF in the BIOS, otherwise when you install DiskCryptor and restart, Windows 10 will not boot. If you select to use a keyfile to encrypt the Windows dr...

Re: Testing newer releases

Thanks for letting me know.

Is it safe to upgrade Windows 10 (or 11?) to a newer release when the drive is encrypted with DiskCryptor?

Testing newer releases

Would like to try DiskCryptor on my Windows 10 desktop, but scared of something going wrong, for example if Windows 10 performs a big "feature update" to the later version and then won't boot.

Are there any newer versions of DiskCryptor since 2020?

Re: Do I need to encrypt the boot partition?

I believe only the NTFS partition needs encryption because your data will be saved there?

Hopefully the author can confirm?

Re: DiskCryptor being developed anymore?

Being more detailed now...

So DiskCryptor is still being developed?

Has it been tested on Windows 10 21H1?

Will it support Windows 11?

If Windows 10 (11?) makes major changes to the OS and/or the bootlaoder with the full disk encryption, will Windows still be bootable?

DiskCryptor being developed anymore?

Wondering if DiskCryptor is still being developed?
Will it survive big updates that change the OS and/or bootloader? (Can't be too specific as my previous post was rejected for unknown reasons.)

Hi

I tried to post a question about DiskCryptor earlier today. It was not approved because it apparently had links to software, but I never posted any links? Weird. What's going on?
